MANASSAS, Va., January 7, 2011 – Cavendo Corporation and JTC Media Productions co-hosted a Tweetup at Okra’s in Manassas on January 4, 2011 to benefit the March of Dimes.
A Tweetup was selected for this event because it offers a casual networking environment that welcomes attendees regardless of whether they participate on Twitter. The added benefit of a Tweetup is that word about the event as well as conversation before and after the event is on the Twitter website and available for anyone to see.
Attendees included Delegate Jackson Miller of Virginia’s 50th District and various members of the local business and Twitter community.
In addition to funds raised at the event that will go directly to the March of Dimes, a number of attendees committed to organizing teams for the March for Babies walk this spring. Jonathan Arehart, CEO and President of Cavendo, is the Prince William chair for the 2011 March for Babies. In Prince William County, the walk will take place on May 1. The March of Dimes National Capital Area has eight walks scheduled between April 16 and May 15, 2011. The money raised through March for Babies will support lifesaving research, community service, education and advocacy that helps babies get a healthy start.
